Julie Mundy

Julie Mundy has been researching and writing Woodslane guidebooks since 2010, when her love of hiking, travel, writing, random facts and exploring all collided as an outlet from her busy day job in international development. Living overseas for a decade gave her lots of time to spend most of her holidays and a few longer stretches on multi-day self-sufficient walks throughout the UK, Iceland, Morocco, Jordan and beyond. Kids arrived and shorter bush walks and child-friendly wanders were the go for a time, and that was reflected in her first few guidebooks with Woodslane, highlighting and exploring all the great short walks on offer from Melbourne, where she is now based, and the west of Victoria. 

With the children now off and running, Julie is back to multi-days and longer distance walking in Australia and abroad, with the Portuguese camino, West Highland Way, Patagonia, Great Ocean Walk, Overland Track and lots of the Grampians.  She’s keen for you to know she is a slow distance wanderer rather than a hiker these days. Julie now co-authors with her friend Deb Heyes, and yes, they do do all of the walks, and sometimes more than once! It’s the best part of the job!
